Contrary to popular belief light trucks operating in an urban environment are put through their paces trying to meet strict delivery times and schedules. This not only causes excessive wear and tear to the vehicle it can also result in driver discomfort.
The evolution of the Japanese truck over the past 10 years has seen many refinements in ride and handling. In the past most of the manufacturers used heavy multi leaf spring packs in the front to suspend the vehicle. With the demand for more comfortable and compliant vehicles has seen many trucks evolve to parabolic springs.
In general, a parabolic spring is a low friction type of suspension, that does not rely on interleaf friction like a multi leaf spring from the leafs to dampen the movement of the vehicle. A parabolic spring oscillates 2 – 3 times more than a multi leaf spring as the leafs in the pack do not touch each other.
This extra suspension movement requires a different type of shock absorber with greater lower speed control. Keeping these factors in mind Powerdown designed the LTS shock absorber range to deliver comfort and control at a competitive price.
- Large body size for extra oil capacity, keeping the oil cooler for improved comfort and control
- Excellent low speed valving to control excessive body movement
- Self-aligning bush kits for secure and easy vehicle fitment
- Designed for the demands of African roads
All these features are designed to deliver increased comfort, improve safety through better handling and braking, reduce driver fatigue and improve vehicle control.
